Several versions of this video exist. The longest is a 17-minute "movie version" which includes an extended introduction before the song starts (including a scene of dialogue between [lead singer] Simon Le Bon and the story's female lead, played by Particia Barzyk, winner of the Miss France title in 1980; a brief snippet of "Union of the Snake" [another of the band's singles] is also heard on a radio), and is set to an extended remix of the song. Duran Duran was formed by John Taylor and Nick Rhodes in 1978. They played at nightclubs in Birmingham. One in particular, called Barbarella's, inspired the band to name themselves after the villain in the sci-fi film with the same name, "Dr. Durand Durand".
